The Confidence Conundrum

Confidence is something that everyone seems to want more of! Like, being confident at your new job when you’ve never done this type of work before. Or being confident in your relationship when you’ve never been in a successful relationship before.

It’s a common dilemma for so many people.

Confidence without competence is purely annoying. In other words, the confidence to give it a go is essential, a must, and is best when it comes with some competence.

True confidence emerges from a solid foundation of competence. You need to embrace the courage to step outside of your comfort zone first in order to develop the skills that lead to genuine competence.

Competence and confidence are linked and by developing competence it always enhances confidence. When you have got both: you have congruency. And congruency is what helps propel you towards success!

Of course we need the bravery to start ‘somewhere’ so that we can become more competent, which in turn boosts confidence. There needs to be a certain humility and openness to know that there is always more to learn. That way we can start to explore that chain reaction of acquiring competence and experiencing heightened confidence.

It’s a bit like rewiring the mind…….

Rewire your mind to be open to give something a go and then get feedback from those actions. In order to do that we need to understand that making mistakes and getting it wrong is human. It is completely normal because everything in life is an opportunity to learn and to grow. Only when we become more tolerant and forgiving of our own ‘failures’ can we truly unleash more of our true potential.

True confidence flourishes when we nurture competence. And the journey towards competence begins with the courage to step out of our beloved comfort zones.

By becoming aware of the unbreakable link between competence and confidence, we can embrace the process of continuous learning and growth. Can you imagine how boring life would be if there was nothing new to learn…?

To accelerate competence we need to bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement.

With each step you take towards becoming more competent, your confidence becomes more natural, and you unlock more and more of your true potential. With each step you become more and more ready to turn dreams into real goals and go for them with unwavering assurance.
